Old to Young!
We almost always see ourselves as
we are in our dreams. Albeit donning different costumes, behaving strangely or seldom
mimicking the likes of somebody else. I saw myself as an inanimate object (was
it inanimate, I wonder!).
Like most of my dreams, this also
takes place in outer space. Maybe I am reading too many NASA articles. I was a
part of larger nebula far far away in the vast infinites. Like me too, there
were other parts of the nebula who could talk among ourselves.
I was a part of the genesis of
our universe!! Could you believe it?
So the punchline being said, this
is how it went about… The part of the nebula that was to be the ‘Sun’ gathered
us around and said- “Look, we are going to form a galaxy. You guys are a part
of it. This will form 700 light years away. First we need to break away from
here and travel 670 light years, then I would break away and form the sun 30
more light years away. Let me go down and see how the surroundings are. I will
signal if all is okay and you can then follow me and form the planets.”
Planets, I wondered… What planet?
I was used to being in a cloud of dust and gas. Sometimes, in a few light years
we could see supernovas at a great distance. That, for us was the ultimate combination
of colours. Being a planet was definitely outside my comfort zone. And to think
a planet would rarely have colour- cold, distant, barren. Sigh!
The journey started and we
separated from our parent nebula. Because we are interplanetary objects, we are
capable of travelling at the speed of light (maybe faster because in my dreams,
we covered the distance in a few minutes). Sometimes it was an uphill trip and
sometimes I was falling in an endless pit; because, the concept of gravity is a
little lost in space.
Anyway, our journey came to a
halt whereas the ‘Sun’ continued to travel further in the cosmos. We kept an
eye on the sun while it spun rapidly producing large amounts of energy and summoning
gravity. After about 30 seconds (which is probably a lot of time in real world),
he gave us the NOD. We followed suit. Each celestial body was assigned a planet
and I fell somewhere in the middle. I was tired from all the travel and needed
a shut eye. All the while thinking the fun days at the nebula are over… zzzz…
When I opened my eyes (possibly a
few billion years later), I saw hues that I had never seen in the outer space
before. There were lush green trees, and chirping of birds. Such melodious
sounds! I could hear, I could see. I had life! Could it be… I was ‘The Earth’.
Although last night I slept feeling old and grey, I now felt fresher than I ever
did in a million years.
All I did was smile!
